The most likely reason is that either you didn't follow the instructions correctly or the video is missing a step or two. It *could* be that the video was made with an older Blender version and something has changed since. There are plugins and addons but if you needed one of those it would have been mentioned in the video. The "base" version of Blender is complete, there are no other versions.
